Simona Celi is a senior scientist at Fondazione Toscana G. Monasterio. She co-found the BioCardioLab in 2008 and currently she is the group leader of the research lab. She is a Mechanical Engineer and she received her PhD in 2008 at University of Pisa. She participated in several National and International research projects and currently she is the technical PI and sub-unit PI of three national research grants. She is adjunct professor at Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa and lecturer at Scuola Superiore San’Anna for the Master Courses in “Percutaneous interventional treatment of structural heart diseases” and “Innovation in cardiac surgery: advances in minimally invasive therapeutics”. Main research topics are the correlation between in-vivo, ex-vivo data; development of in-silico approach through advanced image processing, experimental activities and finite element simulation with uncertainties quantification and sensitivities analysis. Supervisor of 7 PhD students and of about 25 Master Thesis. Since 2017 she is member of the executive board the Italian Chapter of the European Society of Biomechanics (www.esb-ita.it).
